These motions are pertinent to very current business of the TDSB.
Motion # 1
“Ward 10 Council members urge Trustee Chris Bolton to approach other trustees and put forward a motion that the Chair of the TDSB work with OPSBA and its members to advocate for the technical details of the “Grants for Student Needs” (GSN) from the Ministry of Education immediately, and that no formal budgeting be done until this information is received, the community is consulted and due process followed.”
Motion put forward by Douglas Harris, seconded by John Benz, passed unanimously.
Motion #2
“Ward 10 Council members move that-
Until the technical details of the GSNs are received, the trustees and the staff develop an informal budget reflecting the key priorities and initiatives required for student success in Toronto. This informal budget should be clearly communicated in a timely manner to the Ministry of Education so as not to disrupt September programming and in order to advocate for sufficient funding for the TDSB for the 2005-06 school year.”

Motion #3
“Ward 10 council members urge our trustee to oppose the leasing of the Hawthorne/Essex West building and all other leasing / sale proposals of surplus TDSB space pending the implementation of the new Ministry guidelines concerning school closures and consolidations, pro-active community consultation, and the completion of a long term, comprehensive system plan.”
